Hackers have gotten a really bad wrap over the years. All a hacker is, is someone who has the ability to find their way into a computer system that they aren't supposed to be in. Most hackers that I know do it for kicks, or just to see what they can see; it's more of a curious hobby than it is a malevolent occupation. There's really no gain to being a hacker, in most cases. However, I know a couple of guys who've gotten jobs as security personnel, and do their job well. With direction, hackers can use their talents for good, rather than for mischief. Of course, certain hackers with a background of causing major damage to computer systems or those found to have been using their powers to directly harm others should be kept away from sensitive areas, but your average everyday hacker is just looking for something to do, and would be more than happy to get paid for it.
