ASG Group has launched its $10.3 million datacentre and $3.6 million cloud computing facility in Perth today, which it claims will withstand a one in 100-year flood event.
The centre is located outside of the Perth CBD risk radius in Bentley Technology Park and aims to provide a platform for companies and service providers to resell cloud-based services to mining companies, utility providers and government agencies.
ASG CEO Geoff Lewis claims the datacentre will be the first in Perth to be connected to the NBN and will be a highly regarded choice by corporations and governments.
"Data sovereignty means that Australian businesses are going to have to look at a local solution for storage. You can't offshore accountability. ASG can match foreign providers on business model, but beat them on client service, flexibility and local responsiveness," said Lewis.
ASG is offering customers managed hosting services, where the company will design, build and manage according to the client's requirements, or a managed virtual datacentre service in which clients can host their applications across virtualised servers, storage and network.

ASG said that the free-standing datacentre is ISO-27001 compliant and strategically located to experience low traffic volumes. The building itself maintains a low profile, with no signage to give away what might be inside.
