The employees in the company's Flightdeck at Baulkham Hills had been prepared to strike for better pay and conditions. However, IBM agreed in a meeting just over a week ago to present a new employment offer to the disgruntled employees.

Union members within the company met last night to consider the offer. They decided they were not happy with it as it stood and have sent their representatives back to negotiate "with a clear message that there must be more progress made on the deal", the ASU said this morning.

Negotiations would continue today, the ASU said, with the next meeting with IBM to occur on Monday, after which options would be considered.

An IBM spokesperson told ZDNet.com.au the company was continuing to talk to employees at the site.
