The Frontline Systems-owned managed service provider said that demand from customers and a lack of similar offerings in Victoria had been behind its plans. "There is a distinct lack of high-quality, commercially available datacentre space in Victoria, particularly those that have been designed to suit the needs of the mid-market sector, which we define as businesses with 100 to 500 seats," said Andrew Hardy, commercial director at Harbour MSP.

Hardy continued to suggest the company would be targeting "customers who are looking for high-end datacentre and IT-managed services capabilities, but who have been limited by the lack of providers locally".

Located in Port Melbourne, Harbour MSP will be the exclusive tenant within the facility and it plans to offer services including co-location, infrastructure monitoring, security, networking, private cloud deployment and disaster recovery.

The building will take up 1000 square metres and house around 500 racks, ranging from 3kW to 30kW racks with in-row cooling. Built by parent company Frontline Systems in conjunction with specialist, E3 Networks, the datacentre is expected to open in December.
