The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy has received the $25 million National Broadband Network implementation study.

"The government received the report on Friday 5 March and we will now take some time to review and consider the content before decisions are made about next steps," Minister for Communications Stephen Conroy's office said. The $25 million study was conducted by KPMG and McKinsey.

Greens Senator Scott Ludlam said today that the Greens would this afternoon move an order to ensure the implementation study was tabled in the Senate so that parliamentarians could "get an idea of what they're assessing" in terms of the Telstra and NBN debates.

Former shadow Communications Minister Nick Minchin today sought to have the debate over the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Competition and Consumer Safeguards) Bill until the study was released; however, the motion was defeated.

Conroy's office said that the government expected to have the Bill debated in Parliament this afternoon.
