Glitch kills ANZ EFTPOS, credit payments
ANZ EFTPOS and credit facilities have been crippled following a nationwide glitch that crashed the bank's communications network.

Retailers have been unable to conduct EFTPOS or credit card transactions with the bank since about 11am this morning.
ANZ spokesperson Stephen Ries said that the bank is investigating the cause of the glitch. The investigation is "tracking well", according to Ries, who expected systems to be back online soon.
"ANZ has experienced a system outage that is impacting our ability to process some EFTPOS and credit card transactions," Ries told ZDNet Australia.
"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."
Ries said the glitch is not believed to be related to the malfunction that blacked-out ANZ ATM and online banking systems in June this year.
ANZ's branches and ATMs have remained unaffected.
Glitches have remained a thorn for banks across the country, with most hit with faults this year.
ATM transaction services of both ANZ and St George Bank were sporadically crippled on consecutive days in June. During that outage, Sydney branch operators of the former bank could not access its Spider teller machine platform for several hours.
The Commonwealth Bank was hit with a glitch of its own in April that prevented credit card statements from being sent to customers, and caused the company to reimburse overdue fees.
A mysterious technical fault also killed Bank of Queensland EFTPOS services in January, which caused retail businesses to lose thousands of dollars.
