Vodafone is edging towards completing its network upgrade, and Telstra is constantly upgrading Next G, but are customers noticing improvements yet?

We're getting a lot of emails and comments from readers of late saying that their respective mobile networks just aren't up to scratch, but we've noticed a bit of a shift from Vodafone customers to Telstra customers complaining about poor network coverage recently, with a dash of Optus thrown in for good measure.

But has Vodafone improved as the company rolls out its network upgrades? Or are customers getting used to the network the way it is?

Telstra customers seem to be more vocal. On the one hand, Telstra has long-term customers who have noticed the Next G service slow down in the last 18 months as the company added 2.5 million new mobile customers to the network. On the other hand, Telstra has all those new customers who joined Telstra with the expectation that they'd be on the best network, but who may be finding that it's not living up to their expectations.

Telstra this week told us that it has completed upgrades to 16 cell sites across the Sydney CBD — a particular coverage sore spot — in the last few weeks, and has more planned for the next several weeks to get things into shape.
