Emerson Network Power has thrown open the doors of its new Sydney datacentre in a facility purpose-built for live demonstrations of the latest in data management capabilities.

Based in North Ryde, the Emerson datacentre comes complete with the latest in power-management equipment, cooling facilities and advanced remote monitoring gear.

This is the first Emerson Network Power datacentre to be situated in Australia/New Zealand and is built with new uninterruptible power supplies fuelling the facility should the power grid go down.

"We've included a cut-out switch to demonstrate what happens in the event of a total power outage — how it affects the cooling equipment, the racks and the live servers in the racks," said Mark Degura, Emerson's national product manager.

Chris Mandahl, Emerson's sales director, said that the datacentre is a "walk-in space" for live customer demonstrations.

"The North Ryde facility includes all the latest solutions developed for this part of the world, and because it's a live centre, we're upgrading and updating that equipment in lockstep with our development cycles," Mandahl said.
