Small Business Manager handles customers, orders, projects, products and supplies, as well as purchase orders, expenses, invoicing, payments, and account ledger entries. The software has two Wizards to simplify new product additions and Accounts postings. Suppliers/vendors are tracked, as well as shippers and employees. Product categories, Expense codes and Project types are customizable to your particular operation. You have the ability to set price categories for each customer/client. For instance, you may have wholesale, retail, or consumer customers. Each product can then be assigned a price level for each category, so when an order is filled, the price of products automatically is set for that customer. You can also apply discounts at the time of order input. There is a feature to "clone" an order when it is similar to a previous order, thus avoiding repetitive typing. Open orders can be accessed from the main screen with a mouse click. Jobs and Projects are entered from a single screen. Expenses can be applied to each project. Once the job is completed, an invoice can be generated, envelopes printed, and payments entered. There are 25 reports that summarize all phases of the business activity. A tasks/events scheduler helps with future activities and handles recurring events daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually. A calendar can be printed with the schedule up to 8 weeks in advance. Labels can be printed for customers and suppliers, return address labels for your company, and envelopes for your customers. Products can have attached pictures available for viewing on screen.

Version 1.4 adds product picture feature and multiple payments for sales and projects.

It was interesting to witness Conroy's recent enthusiasm to spruik the NBN's role in supporting the Smart Grid, Smart City initiative. What a pity that Conroy hadn't yet seen the damning report from the Victorian auditor-general about that state's smart-meter roll-out.
