The Ultra Hal Text-to-Speech Reader application will read your documents out loud in one of its many high-quality voices. This can be a great tool for proofreading because hearing your text out loud helps you spot all mistakes. This program also can be used for reading e-books, reading Clipboard content, and speaking instant messages. Also, it is able to save its output as a WAV file, which can be converted into a MP3 file.

Version 1.0.5 includes better support of AT&T Natural Voices.

  1. Dosn't run on Vista fully Anonymous -- May 18 2009, 13.12

I installed this and then couldn't find any start button (shortcut) etc, so went to makers web site and worked out I have to look for the program under start search on Vista and start it from there, (says it should start with the computer on boot up and have the icon on the task bar). "It should at least ask you if you want a desktop added when installing."

Anyway, installed with no error messages and started, entered some text and played it.
OK that works but sounds not that great, so tried changing settings. .....found the Pitch control does nothing!
so tried changing the stock voices, ......none there! just blank.

Un-installed and reinstalled to make sure it wasn't a bad load.... no difference.
Somethings not right, I suspect its not compatible with Vista.

Pity, because the program sounds like it would be very useful
