My hard drive malfunctoned and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, both my drive clone and backup was corrupted. I am and have been a registered user of Desktop Weather Platinum and Gold. This is an excellent product and I need to get a replacement. Please advise.

  5. ACT 7.0 perpetuates traditional ACT problems, worsens others Andrew Szabo -- March 23 2005, 06.12

ACT traditionally has been a balky product. The underlying data files are a confusing blizzard of extensions, harking back to the earliest days of database development. ACT has poor connectivity with Outlook and Outlook Express. It is a poor IMAP client. The new product is very significantly slower than ACT 6.0, and my medium size database takes over 2 minutes to load on a 3.2 gHz machine. ACT is a frequent cause of disk corruption and failure. Pay particular attention to ACT Messenger, which occasionally leads XP to fail. The only feature that ACT offers that is a competitive advantage is automatic time-date stamping. Generally, a balky, time-wasting, system-menacing piece of software. The help contract with ACT also turns out to be a major waste of money. I cannot recommend this product to anyone.

Telstra and TransACT will shortly begin offering 100Mbps broadband to many customers. By moving early, the companies have not only raised the bar for Australia's broadband services, but thrown down a challenge to a government that now faces increased pressure to deliver the NBN as promised.
