Daryl Williams announces retirement

Daryl Williams, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, has announced that he will not be re-contesting for his long-held seat of Tangney in the next Federal election, forfeiting his ministerial position.In a statement released today, Williams said that for "family reasons" he has decided not to "be a candidate for re-election", however he maintains that he will be working with the Liberal and National parties for re-election of the Howard government.

Daryl Williams, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, has announced that he will not be re-contesting for his long-held seat of Tangney in the next Federal election, forfeiting his ministerial position.

In a statement released today, Williams said that for "family reasons" he has decided not to "be a candidate for re-election", however he maintains that he will be working with the Liberal and National parties for re-election of the Howard government.

Minister Williams says he will continue to address the "many important and challenging issues" of his portfolio in the coming months.

"While I continue to enjoy the challenges of being a Minister and a Member of Parliament, I look forward to devoting more time to my family after the election," stated Willliams.
