Responsibility for Queensland's formerly stand-alone Technology Transformation Program has been rolled into the government's technology service provider CITEC.

The program, which aimed to save $135 million through the sharing and consolidation of services, datacentres and core network infrastructure across the government, as well as the rationalisation of applications, stopped being an individual entity and became part of CITEC on 31 August 2009.

The program had progressed to the implementation stage according to the state's ICT Minister Robert Schwarten.

"CITEC has been heavily involved in the program to date and it is appropriate they lead the implementation phase to maximise the benefit of CITEC's existing capabilities in datacentre, networks and infrastructure management," he said in a statement.

Sharon Valuch, who had previously been director of the project, has accepted another position within the Department of Public Works, although when her job was advertised last year, it had said she would be needed until 2011. Tony Skippington, the managing director of CITEC, has taken over the helm.
