CBA EFTPOS and ATMs down nationwide

Commonwealth Bank ATM and EFTPOS have crashed for over 14 hours, with the bank blaming a "transaction processing issue" for the outage.

The issue began at approximately 7pm AEDST last night, according to the Commonwealth Bank's Twitter account.

As a result of the outage, the bank has also been experiencing massive volumes of complaint calls.

"It's impacting EFTPOS customers and some ATM customers, but NetBank and phone banking are working fine," Commonwealth Bank told ZDNet Australia.

At 10:05am AEDST, the bank reported on Twitter that the issue had been resolved.

"ATM and EFTPOS services have been restored. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience this caused. Let us know if you have further issues," the bank tweeted.

The issue had no relation to today being a leap day, the bank confirmed on Twitter.

The outage is the second for the Commonwealth Bank in a week; however, last week's outage was due to the national Telstra internet outage caused by Dodo. In December, Commonwealth Bank was also struck with EFTPOS, ATM and NetBank outages due to network connectivity issues.

Talkback
