This tests the bandwidth that you are getting between yourself and the zdnet servers, NOT the speed your ADSL modem is connecting at. Huge difference - read the FAQ!

Going the way of the Dodo

When I log on to Dodo Wireless Broadband a grossly misleading message says "Speed 7.2Mbs." An actual test just now showed the speed, so-called, at 678 kbps.

It is cheap $60 per month with phone but 512 kb speed it isn't. Mine was 59kb as the others say. It is shaped down after you use more than your 2gb allowance, but mine is shaped down all the time. Cheap and a poor deal.

    3 Mobile

We have 2 3 wireless BB cards. Both work faultlessly, one on a PC the other with a laptop. I also have a Telstra Tubo modem. Both 3 and Telstra need an AERIAL to work in our home office right at the back of a block of units. 3 outperforms Telstra at home -just did a speed test on the Znet BB speed test 1870. Telstra cant get over 1200 -I beleive because of Network contention. Get an Aerial ($30). Forget Voda/Optus -they cant work outside Capital cities. 3 have done a deal with Telstra to hop on the NextG net. 6gb for $39!! Telstra want $119 for a (now this month) 9GB. If you are a big user get 2x3's!!

    3 mobile "dial-up"

I live in St Kilda, have a 3 mobile broadband and cannot watch or listen to ANYTHING streaming.

Absolute joke about the speeds of 3 wireless.
I too feel the pain everytime the modem connects and fails to deliver the 7.2mgb/s connection it promises.

3 support are TERRIBLE. Its a fight to get them to provide any information and constantly provide sub-standard excuses.

Does anyone know if vodafone wireless is any better?

    3 mobile broadband

I'm in South Yarra and can rarely get greater than 300kb/s with my 3 Broadband modem. Absolute rubbish trying to download anything. This is usually later at night too. One thing i particularly dislike is the modem proudly announcing the 7.2 MGb/s connection . . . 3 will not listen to any complaints either - stay away from the advertising!!

Interesting the post before outlining the difference b/w kilobits vs kilobytes - is this true??

Re: ADSL2+... 700 metres from exchange!

Thanks UndaKrust, I too live within 700m of the Koroit St exchange and was looking into Westvic's ADSL2+ deals to try and boost online gameplay.
Seems the speed won't affect the Ping anyway, looks like I'll stick with the 512k, cheers.
