On Patch Monday this week we examine the obstacles facing people advocating a Government 2.0 model — open access to APIs and digitised data — and what the team thinks of the Prime Minister's new look website.

Speaking as someone who's presented at both the recent Publicspheres and will be attending the third in Wollongong, I think they are an important step in starting to change the culture of Government. By putting the different groups of Public Servants, Outside Contractors and Politicians in the same room, you start to build the network required for the transmission of new ideas.
The problem many people seem to have is that it's not going to happen overnight so it's probably best not to try. We have to realise that the cultural shift that will be required in and outside of Government is going to take time.
