It's state budget time across the country, and this week's episode of Patch Monday looks to see what each state is doing in terms of its IT spend.

Tasmania announced the details of its budget last week and allocated $5.3 million to upgrade IT systems in health facilities; Tasmanian police will receive GPS tracking abilities and an IT refresh.

In South Australia, money has been taken away from e-health to the tune of $40 million, but other areas received money for IT. The SA Government is spending over $100 million over four years on a radio network for its emergency services and technology for saving water received a boost with $110 million set to improve irrigation systems, including using "smarter" technology.

Tomorrow's New South Wales budget is set to carry some interesting consequences for IT as the state moves to consolidate 160 government agencies down to 13. Will this be a case of NSW spending money to save money? The Patch Monday discusses this and more.
