Patch Monday delivers the verdict on a build of Microsoft's next version of its Office suite that has found its way on the internet. We look at what happened in the Federal Budget as well as discuss the fallout from CeBIT.

Domain name specialist NetRegistry came under fire for using women dressed as nurses for promotional activities at the CeBIT trade fair last week. We discuss the debate, its impact and whether the domain registrar gained a lot of free publicity.

The dispute between the Australian domain name regulator, auDa and Bottle Domains continues with the regulator undoing a transfer of customer's domains to another registrar that appears to be associated with Bottle Domains. One reseller had called on the Federal Government to resolve the dispute and feels it is "caught in the middle". Is it time for Senator Conroy to get involved?

The Federal Budget was handed down last week and by and large there were no big surprises or big announcements for IT. The Patch Monday team examines the money for smart grids and lack of federal spending on e-health.

Today we took Office 2010 Technical Preview for a spin and examine whether it is worth the cost of upgrading, and what improvements have been made over its predecessor.

Was Office 2007 worth the upgrade? Tony -- 19/05/09

Not for me. It contained no extra functionality I needed. The upgrade was forced by organisational policies, not for a real need for new features.

For 100% of what I do, Office 97 would suffice just fine. At least there was more usable area on the screen.

Not even slightly interested in Office 2010...

Upgradation should be worthy Indiancareerclub -- 20/05/09

The upgradation should be useful for all users. Lot of new facilities to be included and have user satisfaction. I look forward for newer thing ...as the year 2010.
