A foresighted Australian investor is selling NSW numberplates spelling "DOT COM" on online auction site eBay for a cool $400,000 minimum bid.
"I have had these plates for many years and turned down many offers over this time, but it is now time to realise the investment," the seller, who News.com.au has named as 43-year-old Sydney business consultant Sean Selva, wrote on the eBay page for the auction.
"These are a real head turner, with regular looks and finger pointing," his sales pitch said. The eBay auction also has a "buy it now" price of $450,000, for which bidders can guarantee to win the auction instantly.
Selva told News.com.au he bought the plates in 1997 for just $300 and claimed he turned down a $500,000 offer for them during the height of the dotcom boom in 2000.

He should have taken the half mill and be done with it. No-one will pay almost that for a number plate representing an era that fell like a lead balloon even though their was no economic turmoil at the time.
