The tender calls for two new equipment panels — namely, an equipment and support panel and a managed print services panel.

"[The equipment and support panel will supply] network printers, multifunction devices (with printing, copying, scanning and faxing capabilities), scanners and associated support including the provision of consumables such as toner," the department said in a statement.

The managed print services panel will provide an end-user service to manage copy, print and fax facilities. This involves unified management of multifunction devices across government agencies to better keep control of the fleet.

The government currently spends approximately $57 million per year on print devices, maintenance and management systems.

The panel arrangements are set to last for three years once established.

An industry briefing is to be held on 26 July and tender submissions close on 24 August 2010.
